There's optimism building in Canada's housing market as we look ahead to 2027. This past year, we've seen encouraging signs: resales picking up, inventory levels stabilizing, and prices holding steady. These shifts, combined with improving affordability and stronger employment, are helping many buyers gain the confidence to step back into the market. Some who had postponed their home search now find themselves better positioned—thanks to diligent saving and stable jobs.
The forecast for 2026 points to a slight dip, with resales projected to decrease by about 4% to 453,000 and benchmark prices expected to slip by around 2% to $794,000. But as borrowing costs remain near their lows and the central bank holds rates steady, there’s an expectation of a gentle rebound. Of course, trade tensions and shifts in the energy sector could still influence the pace of recovery. By 2027, the outlook is for modest gains in both resales and prices across all provinces, though the recovery may feel uneven rather than dramatic.
As someone who helps buyers navigate these changing conditions—especially here in Ontario—I know firsthand how important it is to stay informed and approach each opportunity strategically. My focus has always been on achieving satisfying results for my clients, whether they’re buying their first home or making a significant move. Let’s keep an eye on the evolving landscape together.
